What Is “Wiper Maintenance Mode”?

Maintenance Mode is a handy feature on many Honda vehicles that lets you lift your wiper blades off the windshield when the ignition is off. This makes it easier to clean the glass, replace your blades and most importantly keep them from freezing to the windshield when temps plunge below zero.

How to Activate Wiper Maintenance Mode

Here’s how to set it up in just a few seconds:

1. Turn your ignition ON and then OFF (don’t start the engine).

2. Within 10 seconds, push the wiper lever up twice — as if you were turning them on for a single wipe.

3. The wipers will move to a higher resting position on your windshield.

4. Now you can safely lift the blades away from the glass before the next frost hits!

To exit maintenance mode, simply turn the ignition ON and push the wiper lever down once. The blades will return to their normal position.

When snow or ice is in the forecast, lift your wipers overnight or park your vehicle in a garage if possible. This simple habit can save you from torn wiper blades or that dreaded scraping sound on a frozen morning.
